Me personally, I've learned to enjoy the meetings and try to establish a more friendly type of relationship with everyone. We talk business but crack jokes from time to time. The people that hate meetings the most are usually the ones that don't like spending time with people. But try hopping to another company and see if that can help.

I earn $150k+ in treasury at 30. Sure, the job isn’t the most glamorous but it’s comfortable, my coworkers are nice enough, and I can afford the time and things I want in my personal life. I’d say look for a job that will meet or exceed your financial reqs and a team or at least leader that you enjoy working for. Yes, working on a passion project may bring more joy but depending on what that is, the financial risk may or may not be worth the stress. Do your job but don’t take work too seriously.

Hey VP2, what do you do in treasury? Can I DM you for details?

Work will never fully satisfy you. Also, the people who say this are full of it. No one loves their job every single day. There are good and bad times.

I felt satisfied when I first started out after college. Everything was pretty exciting, busy, and everything was completely new. And my coworkers were a fun crowd to hang out with after work even.

Although now that I’ve gotten my feet under me, it’s not really enough to fully be enough. But if I’ve got the right group of people that I’m working with, the job is good.

I just got yelled by a partner for using an divider page… def not loving it all

I think the people who love their jobs are the owners.

How much of your work time is spent in meetings? 80 percent?

80% is probably a good estimate yeah. I am very deliberate in my efforts to not schedule meetings that aren't purposeful... but one can only control so much.

Hi All, actively seeking for an IT business analyst role in NYC or remote. Master's degree in IT with a product support background trying to make the switch into IT BA. Been on the search since Sept.

Quick salary question! I'm looking for any/all data/info that would help me lock in a competitive salary for a Talent Acquisition Manager. I've put together a list of potentially relevant bullet points that would help narrow down the range:

-Major city market (Atlanta)
-Software Company
-Fully remote
-200 employees
-Team of 1-2 recruiters at any time

What are the actually effective ways of experiencing "team spirit" in the remote situation we're all in?

12 yrs at firm, 1-rated director here. I think this place has finally broken me - I just action my to do list rather than proactively lead, and I’ve stopped equating lack of desire to make a push for partner with personal failure. I now think of former colleagues who’ve left and seem happy way more than feeling inspired by the young partners I’ve always looked up to. Question is - what’s next? Switching jobs before busy season feels risky during WFH. Have I withered on the vine here?

Have any firms begun allowing permanent remote work since the pandemic? My firm has historically been proud of its office-based culture but I’ve been pushing for WFH and would love to hear of some examples. Mostly so I can move to a LCOL area closer to family while still keeping my job that I enjoy.

Hi everyone. I’m new here but I think I’ll get a lot of really good feedback. I work in government procurement. I worked remote during the pandemic and now my manager cannot see his way to letting us work from home. Our department is the only one in the organization that is in the office all the time. It is really hurting morale and, personally, making me look for something different. What is everyone’s experience with old school management? Thank you!

POV: you lateraled to a mid size regional firm in November for $118k after one year of private practice and two years of a federal clerkship. You got a “market bump” up to $125k about a month ago. You just found out that two first year attorneys at your firm (passed the bar in July 2021) are making $128k. And you found out that the new hires (rising 3Ls starting in 2023) were offered $125k. 1. Are you mad? 2. How mad?

In their positions, I think it would be really easy to lapse into toxic behaviors, but they’ve done the opposite. Both have gone out of their ways to acknowledge how much I have on my plate, check in to make sure I’m doing okay, and give me encouragement.

A recruiter reached out to me for a position and I referred my friend for the position instead. The recruiter promised me a referral bonus and is asking me to provide an invoice. He also says I need to take care of any associated costs. Is this standard? Also, how do I issue an invoice as an individual? I’ve never done referrals before. Thanks in advance.
