If you get an offer from another consulting firm and leverage it to get a raise at your current firm (thereby rejecting the other firms offer), will that forever ruin your chances of ever working for that other firm?

Need advice from moms that make more money than the spouse. I got a great offer for nice raise and career advancement but my husband now feels down saying he will not be able to catch up to me now... D folks: when getting a promo, are there two separate raise percentages, one for the promo and one for performance/merit, or is it just one percentage?

Has an offer to join a smaller but growing firm. Will get a decent raise, but I'm concerned about the lack of delivery capability. Seems like the expectation is they want you to be able to do it all, and they brand and technical breadth is not as established. Looks to me its high risk and the reward is just the raise they offer.
