It depends on the rules of the states involved. I live in NJ but for most of my career was employed in NY. If you are working from home in NJ, NY claims that as NY income because your home is not your formal office. But, if working from a NJ office location I would be paying NJ taxes.
You get taxed based on where you do the work. From home = residential state.
At office = office state.
I looked at my pay profile.and it says work state is the state I'm supposed to move to, so maybe that's why it's deducting based off that state? I have no option to change this though. When doing taxes next year, can I manually adjust this later based off of where I was actually working?
Possibly, but it could get complex. I would have a conversation with your company to get your tax withholding corrected as appropriate and with your CPA to make sure you know what the rules are between the two states.
