Any in-house counsel in here willing to post their company, level or YOE, and total comp breakdown? If you’re comfortable, please consider posting both your current stats and what your stats were when you first moved in-house. If there’s any other information that you want to share, please include that too (e.g., hours, interesting perks, etc.). Hi All,
Need suggestions here. Please help me out. I was interviewed with IBM and got selected. Waiting for offer letter. Meanwhile got selected in another company and got offer too. Put down my ppr. Offer from another company is way beyond than IBM almost 22% more in terms of fixed. Now I’m confused that once IBM releases their offer then should I ask them to match with my holding or not ? Will they consider for negotiations? What’s your thoughts? IBM

That’s a tough one. Only way to do it and not appear silly (IMHO) is if the responsibilities of the job are greater than what was posted for the position.
I've done this. Asked for $10k more because the responsibilities grew as I went through interview process. Got $5k more and an extra week of vacation.
Generally, yes. Though if you’ve learned during the interview that the position covers duties beyond those specified in the listing, you might have a case for it.
I think this is a tough sell. If you’ve told them you want X, and they offer you X. you seem greedy.
I might suggest asking for more vacation or sign on or something else. But it’s tough to ask for more when they gave you what you asked for.
Unpopular opinion but I’ve done it and guided my mentees to do it and each time we’ve all gotten the higher amount.
Thank you for all the thoughtful answers! For some context, I was given a raise at my current company during the interview process and now make the amount I asked for. However, my current company pays my health insurance and the new one doesn’t so I would be taking home less per paycheck.
If the job requirements changed during the interview process, then go for it
I’ve done it by mentioning that I had other offers. It was a quick negotiation and I got the number I wanted. If they really want you, it doesn’t hurt to ask.
