I usually buy a purse with my first pay check. It’s kind of a tradition for each job. Nice luxury item that I’ll cherish forever and remind me of milestones.

SUCH a good way to think about it. You’re right, it’s something that you can look back on and use as a reflection point throughout your life. I’ve been eyeing the gucci disco bag for years...maybe i’ll have to do it!!

I’m going to go against the grain, and say invest in your future. I would take the money throw it into stocks.

Either a luxury bag or a vintage piece of furniture (I’m super into interiors) for me personally!

Congratulations! Probably a nice heavy piece of furniture. Cloud couch is probably what I want most rn.

I’d buy a classic bag (Chanel?) or gold jewelry and then save the rest for a rainy day.

I only said Vietnamese bc it is a huge stereotype 🤣 the buy and sell chanel group on Facebook are dominated by rich Vietnamese

I would save now then plan a ridiculously fabulous vacation when the pandemic is all over. I’d take international travel adventures and memories over kitchen appliances any day!

I bought some good quality furniture with my first bonus. The shipping was probably the same cost as the sideboard but I every time I grab something out of it, it reminds me how far I’ve come.

Get a solid chair for work. Something in which you'll have proper posture and be comfortable all day at wfh. Worth the splurge.

I was going to say hermes ... but any smeg kitchen appliances! Or Furnitures from RH!

Purses for me!

Invest it. The men I respect most are more proud of their rainy day/retirement fund growth than any luxury item. While I am guilty of assessing a person (women in particular) based on first impressions of fashion taste, I wish I paid more attention to my own bank account growth vs. my shoes/bags/closet.

Congrats! I just got a new job too and am eyeing either a bag (Chanel/LV/mayyyybe Hermes Kelly) or diamond jewelry.

Have an offer that pays ~$350-450k a year, but is very bonus heavy and about 25% of that or more will be restricted stock and options. Making ~$350k now all cash. And the way it’s structured, in the first year I’ll end up being ~$50k short for the year of where I would be if I stayed. Also requires a big move to a location I’m not too keen on. WLB is better, probably 50 hours a week but need to be plugged in 100% of the time. Any considerations I haven’t really thought about? What should I ask?
