If you had PE/HF tax experience and were looking to leave public accounting which would you chose? I’m talking to a recruiter that has tax roles at both hedge funds and PE funds. Long term which experience would benefit me? Is it true that hedge funds are dying and are a useless skill and I should go to a PE fund?

PE fund will give you a better experience since you will see actual operating companies as well. So you could get real private experience

Launching an apparel brand with my cousin! I’ve always been more business savvy, and she’s a graphic designer. We were thinking we would first try print on demand to see how it starts out (and not dedicate too much time since I work a 40 hour work week still), then can eventually shift to distributing it out ourselves. What are some tips or advice for launching a brand? What are some websites/programs/tools you can’t live without?

Is it me or does the newer generation value more intangible things that aren’t easily measured like work-life balance, fulfillment and purpose in work. Which makes it difficult for firms because that’s not something that is easily measured. Also, this is why there is “value” in crypto, NFTs and the metaverse. It’s a clash of the generations that value tangible things like money, houses, cars and one that values time, experiences, personal online image. Thoughts?

It seems like everyone is in agreement that switching firms gives you a salary boost, but that you could be viewed as someone that doesn’t stick around. Has anyone felt like they got held back from jumping firms every 2-3 years for the salary bump? I know peers that bounced around 2-4 times in a 7 year span and they are making significantly more money than if they stayed at their first job, however it didn’t seem like any of the new companies cared that they bounced around. Other experiences?
