If you had the choice to live in any of these cities, which city would you live in and why?

I’m 31 single male and am familiar with 3 of 4 of the cities listed. I’m listing as living in the best places in town, not suburbs.

Charlotte: clean city and focused around banking. Can get boring for 30 single male but does have major sports teams.

Atlanta: great female to male ratio, fun areas and has really grown the last few years. Easy to travel out of. This is my current city. If you’re black this should be top if you’re list.

Miami: super expensive but love being on the ocean. Harder to travel out of but if you’re Latino this is the perfect city.

Austin: don’t know much but real estate is climbing like crazy. Huge growth for young people and would be awesome as a single male. If you’re looking to settle down this may not be the best place.

Pretty sound analysis.

like

Austin: SXSW, ACL, F1, concerts every weekend, no state income tax, amazing if you are single, amazing bar scene, year round warm weather and major outdoor culture.

Miami: great weather, festivals, nightlife is good but the club scene will get old (I grew up down there), no state income tax.

Hear Charlotte is cool but people prefer Austin. And ATL, not even sure how it’s comparable to the others as all it offers is better flight options.... who cares.

You’ve obviously never spent time in Atlanta if you speak higher of Charlotte

Chicago.

Chicago is an amazing city and one of the best in the world during summer time. Great city for consulting with easy airport access. As others indicated the weather sucks hard -- but besides weather other cons are high taxes (property taxes are ridiculous) and a real serious crime problem. There's really not much to dislike about Chicago otherwise IMO. Well that and I'd get fat from all of the amazing food if I moved there again. 😅

Austin - great year-round weather, amazing food scene, lots to do outdoors, low cost of living, booming tech sector
Otherwise NoDa or Southend are nice in Charlotte and Midtown’s nice in Atlanta but the rest of both is sprawling suburbia, not a big partier or beach person so Miami is out

likesmarthelpful

If you call 100 degrees everyday for four months straight great weather, sure. Food scene is okay but lack of diversity.

like

Austin for sure

like

Charlotte has a lot of opps - huge banking sector

SA5 - Mangers in B4 are probably making ~120k and home cost will vary widely based on where you live. A 4br 3ba home can be anywhere between 300k-800k but definitely more towards the bottom of that scale. Mortgage should be under $2,000 a mo if you have a reasonable down payment

like

Only Atlanta and Miami have scale and real job opportunities. Weather is decent too.

like

What? I'm from Miami. The job market there is awful and COL is through the roof. Plus you need to be fully bilingual to land any decent job.

like

I mean Charlotte is awesome. Love the airport (really close to anywhere you'd want to live)

It's the smallest of all of these places and lowest COL.

Doesn't have absurd traffic (big con for Atlanta)

Clean

Austin for sure. Atlanta sucks

like

Why? I love Atlanta.

Just moved from ATL lived there for 4 years. Loved it. It’s growing like crazy, food and good night life if you’re into that. Job opportunities are a plenty as well. Lived all over the city, feel free to DM if you want more info.

Same as KMPG 1. I lived in ATL for 4 years as well. I liked it. I like Austin as well. A good social scene. My best friend lives there. I moved to Dallas from ATL.

You must really love humidity.

Agree ATL is completely full and nobody should move here.

I'm a (South) Carolina boy at heart, so Charlotte would get me the closest to that. Austin would be my next choice cuz I also like Texas.

Looking for advice. I currently am happy in my current position but a hospital near by is offering 30k sign on bonus (contracted for 2 years) with competitive pay and benefits. If I get an offer I want to allow my current employer the chance to counter offer. Being in a leadership role right now, has any one done this and had it back fire?
