People sometimes lie to spare others’ feelings. This I can understand. But there’s no honor in hying to benefit ones self at the expense of others

Yes, it reflects poorly on you. It’s your right in some geos to get your PTO paid out. But your company can also force you to take vacation in many cases.
In the end, no one is going to court over this though. So only you can decide whether you care if it reflects poorly on you.
