I’m about to start an internship at IBM for UX Research. I’m super excited about it, and was wondering if anyone could tell me about the design culture there or how the company is for designers? So far online I’ve only heard about the company from consultants or software engineers. For more reference I’ll be working in Austin.

2023 is not far away. Just quit now and say you wanted a few weeks off before you started
Agreed, if you have the money, I would just leave personally. Not worth sticking around.
I agree with the comment above. 2023 is not that far away. I would hang in there and keep your head down until you can take the new role.
PIP usually doesn't show in your record. If you have a new offer, start using all your vacations and sick days. By the time they put you on PIP, it will be 2023, so don't worry about it.
Why are you assuming you're going to get fired? There's nothing much you can do about it but to do what you're expected to at work. Perform well so they have less reasons to fire you or get you PIP'ed.
I agree with A1. That would be the safest way out and the most logical excuse. It won't affect your record that much so there's nothing to worry about.
