Does anyone have creative solutions to sharing WFH space with spouse? We have desks in what was once a formal dining area (no doors) - but we are both on calls a lot (at the same time, with no noise insulation) and the setup does not have ideal backgrounds for video conferencing. We want to be able to work ergonomically without always running to the bedroom to take a call. I know we’re not alone! Room dividers? Sound absorbing panels? Any other ideas? Bonus for inspiration pictures!

Long post, but hear me out: There have been a lot of WFH-based debates this past week. The reasons for or against it have almost universally been focused on the consulting way of life, a shift in WLB, and efficiency. But as someone who left consulting a year ago for industry, I want to suggest that most people aren’t thinking thinking broadly enough. I want to posit that the pandemic is to consulting what Uber was to the taxi industry: a major disruptor that can’t be effectively rolled back.

I started a new positon end of January. Come to find out that the “hybrid/work from home” policy is not as discussed in several interviews. In short, it’s not what I was looking for, and in fact, more restrictive in flexibility than the role I left. Now 5 months in I am applying for other positions outside the company. Is there a diplomatic way to explain why I am leaving new role so soon without saying “I was strongly misled”?

Is it possible that my high stress job is causing me to gain weight? In the past year my physical activity has increased slightly due to WFH, eating is the same but I’ve gained 25-30 lbs. I’m a 29 year old male and couldn’t gain weight most of my life, now am considered borderline obese due to the weight gain this past year.
