Yep happened to me. Has to do with their comp and/or hr policies and how it ties to their operating expenses.

....to hedge against projects or clients not being able to afford you in that new city? Ex. Working at Deloitte or ACT making 130 in SF, but decreased to 110 in LA....?
You still come out on top and are able to move to your desired city so what’s the issue?
Yes!
LA is commonly considered as T2 (same applies to Seattle) compared to SF/NYC across industries.
COL and competition of getting good talents should all factor in. Also, I believe there’s still a difference between the best bits of LA and best bits of SF/NYC.
Not sure if the difference is 30k though.
Parts of LA are just as expensive as SF. However LA has a lot more options with a lower cost of living.
