You can roll off as long as u can make a convincing case for it with the leadership

Dude. You gotta give us the firm for us to be of any help

Keep your rear end in the chair unless you have business need and a direct use case. We all get projects we don’t like, sadly.

You can roll off. Just do well on the next one

Need more info. Different firms (and service lines) have different perspectives on quitter mentality (proactive rolling off). Consider having someone request you for a different project, so it’s not like you gave up. Or talk to the project leader and discuss your concerns and ask for something more interesting or challenging to you on the project.

Sit down and work. Make friends & allies; angle for something better next time.

The firm is uncle D

No

Yes I’m actually doing that today. The SM and I had a good conversation yesterday about the project and we mutually agreed it’s best for me to roll off. No hard feelings and no strikes against me with the firm. Sometimes there’s a staffing mismatch and the project doesn’t fit your skill set or area of expertise. It’s best to be honest with yourself and the project about that, otherwise everyone will be miserable on it and the end quality will be crap.

I was laid off from a resource management role, working with employees approaching or on the bench, working with managers to staff projects, and support functions like report creation, scheduling, etc. Roles like this are few and many large consulting firms have frozen internal hiring. Do you think it would be beneficial to get a SHRM cert? Would that help get a "talent related" HR role? Worth the money? I have a background in recruitment as well.

Idk what to do with my career. I feel very lost. I have been sitting on the bench a lot. I have tried networking but no projects come up. Not that I’m complaining about having no work, but I just feel like I’m missing out on the experiences and personal growth / development. As someone early on their career, I would like to learn as much as possible. Should I apply for other jobs?
