If you leave your job and take a month (or more) off before starting the next, what do you all do about health insurance?

Check to see if your current insurance is active through the end of the month, you may be covered for longer than you think. Otherwise, as others have said there is COBRA. Typically you don't receive your COBRA eligibility paperwork for a few weeks after your separation and have I believe a month to enroll. In other words you can wait the month out and enroll retroactively.

Self insure (i.e., no policy)

100% depends on your situation. If healthy and single / no kids and don't have a medical condition you can do up to two months without any coverage penalty free from a tax perspective. If you have a family/kids, are prone to accidents, have a health condition, have a therapist you need to continue seeing or prescription meds etc, you should seriously consider COBRA. You could also consider other likely cheaper coverage options than COBRA, however, usually you're starting again with another high deductible which is not beneficial to you if you've already met yours on your firm plan.

Well, appears you live in the US so you'll be offered to continue coverage (COBRA) and pay full cost, but on healthcare exchange if your state has one, or just let it lapse.

Trying to figure out how to manage health issues and work balance. I just recently found out I might have herpes (waiting for the test results to come back) and I have been very and feeling like my life is over especially because it came from being cheated on and struggling with prioritizing my bandwidth and not knowing how to communicate it with my team. Due to stigmas around something as common as herpes I cannot comfortably share that with my team.

I am looking to switch careers. I have been in my current career for nearly 20 years. I need a change. I have masters degree in instructional technology, health care administration, and English. I am working on trying to work my current skills into today's job market. That is more difficult than I anticipated. I guess I'm wondering if there really is anything out there to switch to? I feel lucky to have a job, but it is getting very depressing and difficult to get up for work.
