If you liked your firm and team, had a great role, great pathway to leadership/advancement, pretty good WLB, etc., what % salary bump would it take to make you leave for a competitor (7-8 YOE)?

If you’re happy, don’t leave. It’s rare to find a place in consulting where you’re happy.

I update mine to 50 haha

50+

40%, ceteris paribus

40-50% assuming you’re a year away from promo. 30% if two years, so on and so forth.

leave and come back.

Just did this 5 years out, it was 80-90% TC but I can always boomerang in a couple of years.

50% or more, depending on how bad the new firm might be. Especially consider the WLB tradeoff and how much you make today. The marginal value of 50k isn't worth going from 200k and 40h weeks to 250k and 60 hour weeks. Even 100 might not be worth it, and that's before thinking of culture and other harder to measure things.

This was a helpful gut check!! Hard not to think about it when I hear numbers for bases at competitors but it’s just one part of the bigger picture

I transitioned into a product manager role at a startup after working as a PO/BA for about 10 yrs. My manager wants me to put together a plan for me taking over from him! He wants me to layout Tasks / milestones / gaps / issues, etc. My problem is that I just jump into work and figure out as I go depending on what is required at any given time. Now a product road map exists, dev apparently doesn’t estimate. Any of y’all did anything like this in the past? Any pointers on how to tackle?

Hi! Around 3 months back I gave IBM Cognitive test as the initial assignment but bombed it due to some technical issues and my candidature was rejected further. However, my profile has again been considered by IBM for a similar role and received Cognitive test link again. Since the previous test results are valid for 1year, the activity was auto completed. What is the probability of me being considered for further rounds? Please enlighten. Thanks
