If you live in the suburbs, how reliable are 3am or 4am ubers for catching flights?

Get a cab company phone number and schedule with them. After the first week get the phone of the driver that picks you up and schedule with he/she directly, make sure you give a nice 40% tip and he/she will pick you up every week

like

I do it all the time. The extra tip is way cheaper than you missing your flight and missing a meeting

Totally depends on suburb. I live in Princeton and travel to Newark every week. Uber is usually unreliable. I have a fixed reliable driver for the past 4 years who never ever failed to drop me or pick me up from airport. I can rely on him for picking me up in bad weather also

like

Wow ok there are more people based out of princeton than I thought. Any recommendations?

like

I live in Bergen county and get scared ordering for ubers and they always took me 5-15 minutes once I ordered them in the morning....never a problem

like

10min-15min is average wait time at that hour.

like

Just spent a week in northern jersey about half an hour from Newark, every Uber I requested that week took 10ish moments to show up, at normal times of day. I’m sure someone will be driving that early, but budget a long wait time for pickup.

like

Suburbs or Dallas, never had a problem. Scheduled ahead of time.

like

Usually 7-10 minutes. A lot of drivers are working at that time because it’s all airport runs.

like

Second this (live in Essex for context)

like

Which city?

Trying to get to Ewr in newark

Which suburb?

Schedule them ahead of time

Unfortunately uber doesnt guarantee an uber if you schedule them ahead of time. They send the request around 15 to 20 minutes before your scheduled time. It's based off demand

Do a cab company or car service

I live in NE Ohio an hour from Cleveland and worried forever about this. I finally tried it a few times, but gave myself a cushion and it worked out fine though the cushion helped because the nearest car was further away than I would have guessed.

I recently started my own firm. We primarily do ID. I want to give our attorneys flexibility and a work life balance so I’m considering giving them a higher % of every hour billed/collected as the basis of their compensation rather than a set salary. This would eliminate any billing pressure and give attorneys the freedom to decide how much they want to work/earn. Anyone have any thoughts on whether this would be fair and/or a good idea?
