Looking for some specific info on Short Term Disability eligibility at EY. I would like to accept an offer, but won’t be eligible for 16-wk parental leave before 1 yr of tenure. This is an important detail for me since I am expecting this year. I have received in email that for parents who have a child *before* 1 year, that they are eligible for STD after 3 mnths at 100% for 6 weeks (+3weeks of approved PTO). is there fine print that pregnancy is a ‘pre-existing condition’ and I’d be denied?

If your own fault does not mean you getting drunk at the airport, yes. E.g. being stuck in a client meeting, unexpected traffic jam, feeling sick, forgetting the time while working, etc. —> expense it
Yes. Will anyone know it was your fault? what constitutes your fault versus knock on effects of working?
you could also ask your manager but in general I find consulting firms do a good job of not truly screwing employees on budget in favor of an expense budget. in my view without an extreme situation an extra ticket like this should always be picked up by the multi billion dollar corporations involved and not the individual...
How is this American’s fault? OP was courtesy rebooked on next space-available flight, despite this being one of the busiest travel weeks. Should they have interlined instead ???
Expense it. No chance that’d be out of my own pocket
They (American) rebooked me for a 6am flight the next day...meaning I’d have to pay for the cab to and from Manhattan as well as another hotel stay, all for a few hours of sleep. Figured I just wanted to get home asap 😕
American —> no longer a real airline
You can expense that, it’s not a personal item and you were on firm business
To be honest I’d expense it too. Just claim traffic jams due to holiday fervor and clients keeping you longer than expected to close out final things before a major holiday. Good luck
Guarantee partner won’t probe. Honest mistake and lesson learned.
American sucks
It’s also the holidays 🙏🏻
As you said it was your own fault so unless your company is lax about the rebooking policy, it’s on you
Wait a minute- you expensed an international flight in the first place?
Missed the Thanksgiving flight home and the second ticket was awfully pricey 😕
No that’s on you for missing. 1. How did you miss it as in what was the cause and 2. Why wouldn’t you change to another flight? I’m sure the cost would still be less if you had changed it
Essentially, I had no idea you had to check your bag >1 hour before departure on international flights. I tried to check my bag 50 minutes before departure, they wouldn’t accept it for security reasons, and I had to rebook. My fault for not knowing that rule I guess, since I generally only travel with a carry-on.
Surprised they didn’t courtesy rebook you
Was this a real airline, or something like Norwegian / Spirit?
I was able to check my bag under an hour before an international flight. I guess it depends on the agent and whether they were nice/racist or your ability to sweet talk them over
So I don’t understand did you have to get a new ticket at full cost or they just rebooked you? Technically I’d say the expense should be on you but just come up with a business reason “i.e. trying to get something out before leaving client site” that caused you to be late. Depending on how closely they are looking at the expenses be prepared for some questioning?
Not sure why American is bashed her for this. It was obviously OPs fault for not knowing the rules in place for check bags not Americans
Would love to expense it, I’m just not sure that “I didn’t know the rules” would hold water if a partner were to probe
