If you only have audit experience and jumped into a fund accounting/admin role, would you expect to know everything within 3 months? Feel like this new jump has unreal expectations to know the can daily and monthly work with minimal training after only 3 months

Probably takes anywhere from 6-12 months to get acclimated IMO. Btw, are you that same dude who posted about recently joining SS&C? Sounds like a nightmare

like

Yep. Never ever ever work for this place. I thought it was me but the other new hires have the same story tell. It’s just the toxic culture and people here

I think 3 months is pretty unrealistic to learn an entirely new role, no matter what the role is. I always tell people 6-9 months to learn the ropes for a new gig. Have you talked to your manager?

like

Yeah 6-9 months would be good but this place is sweatshop. Not really a place where you can communicate that to the manager, they just expect you know everything while there’s not much formal training or hands on help.

Is front end web dev a lucrative career choice? Currently in the commercial banking industry but don’t enjoy it a ton, enjoy learning basic front end web dev because I like the control and creative aspect of it, was curious if I should just keep it as a hobby and keep a stable banking job or possibly look into trying to prepare to make a switch in a few years. Thoughts?

FAANG (or MANGA) companies seem to be the holy grail for lots of people exiting BIG4 or even banking/consulting types looking for finance analyst type roles in industry.

Anecdotally, the pay & culture seems good at those companies, but are there significant cons to "finance analyst" type roles in those orgs which would deter you from working from them? (I.e work hours, progression etc?)
