Coming from someone who went from one B4 to another, they may not ask you to leave immediately. Depends on you and depends on whats going on with your engagement. I expected to leave immediately and was kinda of bummed out when they had me do the full two weeks.
I’d go to your engagement partner first, then counselor, then project manager, then to HR
D1, well, why are you? Mine was because I was tired of a rotation program and wanted to specialize in ways I wasn’t being allowed to at my old firm. The opposite can also be true, you want broader experience to be better at cross-selling later, don’t want to be pigeon-holes, etc. you value the people you know work at the other firm and are interested in a better culture fit. You want to spend more time on business development. Etc. if you’re looking to leave just because you want out, maybe check to make sure that it’s not just PA that is making you miserable. The grass isn’t always greener...
They may ask you to leave on the same day. I wouldnt tell HR first.
They will ask you to leave immediately. Be prepared
They will ask you to leave immediately. Speaking from firsthand experience. Be prepared before you say anything
When I moved from KPMG to Deloitte, the partner asked me to leave after giving my 2 weeks notice.. but they paid me for the entire 2 weeks, so no complains at all lol
You don’t have to say where you are going...
In Big 4, feelings are supposed to get hurt, it’s business.
Counselor first, close senior manager and then close partner.
Tell the people you're close with first, respectfully listen to them try to convince you to stay and then tell HR. That way if you're asked to leave immediately you will not have burned all your bridges.
How do you answer the question... why are you leaving your firm to work with us ?
