If you really hated your job, were looking for over a year for a new role, and had an opportunity for a lateral move that would pay 32k more, would put you in your intended functional area, but at a level that is 1 or 2 levels down than you are qualified to be at, would you take it? Keep in mind I REALLY REALLY HATE MY current gig and company.

Titles don’t matter until later in life (if ever). Prioritize the money and doing the work you love

If you enter below the level you’re qualified for, it’ll be obvious and you’ll be promoted quickly

Yes, titles vary from company to company. Money, responsibility (learning and growth), liking your work and colleagues are what make it worthwhile.

Obviously its a higher level if it pays 32k more. Titles don't mean much.

Absolutely do it. Perform well, get promoted and make bank while doing work you enjoy.

Yeah you'll kill it, be less stressed, and get promoted faster. Might even get great bonuses.

I started at a new firm this year in January. I had a billable goal that was given to me mid year of around 1750 house for the year. I am nowhere near that and definitely will not meet the goal. I had so many non billable hours I was forced to take when I first came in. I worked my ass off in busy season. At my previous firm I never fell short of hours as it was B4. This firm is mid sized and more focused on WLB. My question is how bad do you think this will affect my comp??

I've worked at the same engineering firm for 4 years. I'm currently making $161k with only a $750 bonus, but excellent vacation (4 weeks, cash out anytime, rolls over indefinitely), 45 hours a week. I have an interview with a recruiter at Guidehouse this week for a Technical Project Manager role. It seems to be focused in the government space and requires a security clearance. What sort of salary and benefits could I expect for this sort of role at Guidehouse?

I just interviewed via zoom for JPMorgan Chase for trade support (thinking no more interviews were needed). The next day the recruiter calls me, saying that the team is very interest and went over logistics. She said she was going to talk back to the team and let me know next steps. The next day I get an e-mail requesting an interview again for the role but from the recruiting coordinator. Does JP give offers via zoom? Any similar stories?

Thinking of switching employers.
