If you schedule dinner or something, do you put it on your work calendar as busy? What do you write? Personal time?

Yes, I put it in the calendar, but mark it as private on Outlook so people can see I'm busy but not what I'm doing.

like

Do folks on your team even have the ability to view meeting details on your calendar? It’s likely just set to free/busy time by default. And I doubt IT is poring through your calendar to find out when you have a social life.

like

Can’t you make your whole calendar private so that it shows you as busy but with no details? I thought that was the norm.

like

Didn’t realize I could do that smh and just did! Thank you!

like

Yes, not that anyone has ever cared that my calendar said I was busy

I’m seeing lots of posts about really bad losses. If you trade you’re going to lose money - hopefully not all the time, but many positions will be mistakes. But you need a process to find ideas and manage positions. Two books you should read are “The New Trading for a Livinng” and “The Laws of Trading.” Both look at psychology, process, and risk in different ways that can help you work out your own process. The next 18 months will be much harder than the last 18 - time to start learning.

I just learned that the supplemental long term disability policy offered by my firm does not cover any disability caused or significantly contributed to by pregnancy or childbirth. This feels really discriminatory and unfair to me that the firm would only offer this policy. Women are expected to bear the burden and risk of pregnancy (often more than once) and if there is a complication they don’t get benefits?! Does your firm have this policy exclusion?

Would like to give a few weeks notice to current firm about leaving but need the entire parental leave. Hey all - first year associate here… I’ve met my hours requirement for this year (requirement is 1900 and am currently at around 2050 with billable hours - approx. 2160 with non billable admin hours) and I am just tired. Is it okay to just “disappear” during the holidays (thanksgiving week, week of Christmas) and let partners and senior associates know I am not available? At this point I don’t care about making more money - I just want to sleep, read a good trashy book, and cuddle with my dog.
