What’s your creative side-project?

A little over a year ago, I posted about my boss making constant comments about my salary. Most comments said I must not have been performing well. I want to update that he was fired, not me.

How did your agency handle layoffs? All-agency meeting before they started? After they ended? Both?

Kinda sorta trying to predict if I’m losing my job tomorrow.

Boyfriend has seemed to be dropping a ton on me lately, even after I got bad news that my company is t doing so hot this week and layoffs are approaching. First it was that we may be moving to another state for his job, then it was that his brother may need to move in with us for a few months after he graduates

It’s just a bit overwhelming at this time and I’m not sure how to communicate through all of this being thrown at me. 3 yrs together and we were friends for many years before that.

After 6 years of temporary contracts and unstable situations, I find my dream job in my dream company. All of a sudden the world goes upside down and I get laid off. I start sending hundreds of applications, with only 2 recruiters getting back to me to say I don’t have experience for the job (this is how it works in Italy). Add a terrible health situation in my family and it seems there’s no light at the end of the tunnel. Ugh. 😞

My remit quadrupled+ in a recent re-org with no increase in pay/promotion, my new director is new to the company and was zero help, and I was passed over for recent promotion during the comp cycle. The new director essentially began shutting me down any time I ask for clarity in my career progression. Now they have taken credit for the project I’ve been building over the past year+ without giving me props whatsoever to higher ups. What is the best plan of action here?

It’s hard to be motivated when rounds of layoffs happen and you see all your friends leave. But one thing that’s gotten me through all of this is working out. And when I say workout I mean the most pathetic, sad, barely completed beginner-level cardio dance routines. I’ve somehow forced myself to move while on lockdown and it’s somehow forced me to feel better. Any good recommended books on how to build a scalable product and team? I'm looking for recommendations for two areas: 1) in general laying the groundwork in a startup to have the tools and especially processes in place to scale, and 2) tactical focus on building a SaaS project. I accepted an offer from Cognizant for a consultant position a little less than a month ago. My joining date is 5th September and I would need visa sponsorship. I have completed my pre joining formalities and background verification. The thing is I haven’t heard from HR in a while and no update as yet on visa sponsorship process. Should I be worried?

If you were still in undergrad would you prefer 1. Go back to campus and have an in person/hybrid learning experience with restrictions on social life
2. Have your school go fully remote for the entire fall semester
3. Defer for a year and resume your education fall 2021 when things will hopefully be “normal”
