For benchmarking I think it’d be helpful for all on here to see starting comp. (undergrad or MBA) at top consulting firms: Firm: Base salary: Total possible per. bonus: Profit share: 401K:
If I put my two weeks notice in June and work until July, will I be able to use my health insurance until end of July? Or do I need to wait to put my two weeks in July?
Please talk me out of ordering the new ford bronco for 50k. Background: 26 y/o 2020 grad. After taxes, 401K, and HSA I take home ~6100/month. My current car is 13 years old and on its last leg(s). Current debt is 850/month for income based student loan repayments. I have 6 month emergency fund in savings and 20% of net income goes to brokerage account. Growing up lower middle class my only “I’ve made it” purchase is a bad A double S vehicle I actually want. I also get double steak at chipotle.
New to investing, but want to make sure I'm doing this correctly. I've maxed out my 401K and am looking to open an IRA. I know everyone recommends backdooring this into a Roth IRA, but if my plan is to move/retire to a state with no state income tax, wouldn't traditional make more sense? Or am I overthinking this? Also, if I go the backdoor route, how do I make sure I don't get taxed again, when i convert to a Roth? Thanks in advance!
State your firms retirement benefits...401k and so on. Accenture is 100% match up to 6%, but only after year 1.
Been doing a lot more 401k biz and want to eventually do that alone. Want to complement the 401k with group DI/group life. Is it possible with smaller companies? What about group life? Any experience?
Are there any benefits to doing the same exercise routine everyday vs mixing it up? For example, I do like yoga, running, body weight exercises, and HIIT. Should I do a combination of these or stick to one type for consistency?
Given similar work/life, responsibilities, benefits...etc. What’s the minimum % pay bump you’ll leave a job for?
At what point should I consider purchasing an investment property? Here’s my breakdown with my 131k/yr salary: Maxing out Roth 401k (balance of 145k), Roth IRA (balance of 8k), HSA (balance of 4k), then do 10% to ESPP, then send about ~$500/month to taxable brokerage (balance of 35k), and keep 20k in HYSA.
Was reached out to by a Vynamic recruiter Really want to get into healthcare-specific consulting, but would love to move into this space along with a bump. Currently make $120k base ~10k bonus per year with 4.5 YOE. Anyone know of Vynamic’s average comp at the Manager level & if I can expect an increase?
Anyone working in PWC AC Kolkata office or anyone aware of the work culture & Employee benefits etc. Pls do let me know in the comments section. I have recently received an offer from the same ..So wanted to know
Would you semi-retire(dial down and take care of family more) if you had 2M USD net worth and 3 lakhs of passive income per month ?
When does it become smart to switch to Roth investments? For 20 years I've gone with trad IRAs and 401(k)s; I wasn't a high earner and reasoned I could use the tax benefits and would (hopefully) end my working life with plenty of money in the bank to take the tax loss then. I'm now in early middle age making low six figures--is now the time or do I keep waiting? I know if I take required withdrawals on a trad while I'm still working I could be hit hard, but when I retire I expect to..retire.
Any other pre tax benefit programs others are aware off? 401k, commuter benefits, HSA/FSA... anything else pre tax (not including insurance)
I committed to being here for 3 years to get that pension $. But it’s been 6 weeks and I already hate it. Someone please tell me it gets better.
How are folks thinking about permanent life insurance? 45, making let’s say for example (not my exact numbers): $1M per year, not yet vested in pension. Was thinking need to replace the post tax take home, about $550k NPV’ed at 5% to age 55, so that’s like $3.2M. Maybe pension is worth $2.5M so I think that means I should have $5.7 total you want death to have no financial impact. Also was going to do $1M of that in perm w/ LTC rider. Sound right?
Looking for some guidance on salary negotiation! I know I am underpaid for my market value, but also know that my current company has better culture, better WLB, slightly better benefits, and I am in great standing/get great opportunities...so realistically I’m not interested in moving. I also want more fair comp (but we also had a tough year financially and have all been told not to expect any salary increases this year). Thoughts on how to approach?
I work as a Digital Strategist for an agency that specializes in consulting for the public sector. I would like to work at a consulting firm like Deloitte, PwC, Booz Allen Hamilton, or EY. I am wondering if anyone knows the differences and benefits between the digital marketing transformation divisions at these consulting firms?
I get nervous when I have to communicate project status in huge conference calls. Any tips?
Hi everyone 🎅! I'm looking to join online communities (like this one) for people in customer success. Particularly Slack groups. Anyone have any recommendations? Thanks!
How do i find time to shortlist companies, interview / prep for exit etc while working the usual crazy consulting hours? How did you do it or any advice? (Associate here)
Can anyone talk to the process of interviewing and getting hired as a CW + AD team? What kinds of questions should you prepare for? Do you negotiate salary together? Thanks.
I've become really jaded about consulting. I find all so often you need to tell the client what they want to hear to keep their business and I feel like so much of the what I recommend doesn't actually get implemented. I'm looking to make a career switch so I can both create and execute on my strategies. A product management path seems very promising for this. Does anyone who switched from consulting to product management have any recommendations of h helpful PM books, courses, or programs?
I had six hours worth of Zoom interviews with an AmLaw100 firm on Monday and Tuesday last week. I haven’t heard back on anything yet - when is “too” long to have not heard back and when should I reach out to their in-house recruiter for some kind of update?
Signed up for a job that’s 80% travel. Realistically- how much is it now? (Covid- post covid)
3-piece suit to finance interview or no?
If you’re in LCOL or MCOL, is your firm losing people to California firms offering remote work and California wages? I know some have left for Seiler; Citrin Cooperman; CohnReznick; Abbott, Stringham, and Lynch; Frank Rimerman; Green Hasson Janks. Just curious if it has affected your office at all and if you left for one of those firms, what is your experience so far?
Guys, you can join Asia innovation summit which is going on now. There are some good conversations happening there but mainly there are job stalls and hiring managers also present. There are major crypto companies also hiring there.
How are m&a divisions in tech companies? Like Microsoft google etc.? How’s the culture? Anyone has any insights?
Sister is mentally ill and born with brain injury. I'm sensing she's on her way back to psych ward, as she's displaying her crazy symptoms again. Not looking forward to this
Asking on behalf of my parent who I think is severely under compensated and needs to go elsewhere: - Associate Director at a F100 w/15+ YOE in this industry - Has an MBA and a PMP - Engineering background (foreign country) with program/project/portfolio management experience in current role Currently making $130-$150K with like a $20-30K bonus. What’s a realistic salary target? Always been a high performer but because English isn’t the first language I worry they’ve been taken advantage of.
Just went from 5th to 2nd and would love to know classroom management ideas. Anything to stay away from? Thanks!
Why is there an overlap / inverse correlation between salary and designation? For example there are senior consultants making a lot more than managers, and managers making a lot more than SM.
