For what it’s worth. I was a high performer at 1 big 4 firm, got an offer for FDD at another big 4 firm, and when I told them, they were happy for me and did not counter. So I either had to stay in my old service line and make no change, or leave. I didn’t mind leaving so it was no big deal, but if you do what it sounds like you may do, and they don’t counter, it’ll be kinda awkward
What do you have to lose? Send it fam
No way that's communicated during the interview/ offer process. Only chance of it getting flagged is afterwards and even that would be by happenschance . I think this does change the higher you get up however, obviously director and above would be a far greater risk to reputation should something like that leak. Manager and below I'd say not much to be concerned with.
That's a dangerous game, tas is a small world, outside of a large market you should worry.

This, it’s a very small world. No people aren’t going to call to verify but it’s not a non zero chance it won’t ever come up in casual conversation over beers

This happens all the time they’re not going to call and verify lol
I was in a same spot and no one asked
When I was using an external offer to get a transfer, I was asked what the actual offer amounts were and bonus so that they could match. They did not request any evidence that I didn't just make up the numbers. I'm sure you could get away with it, but kinda playing a dangerous game, lying about it

Don't lie about it. I had other offer but since it was in Audit, I just said I have another B4 offer.
