If you tested positive for covid 3 weeks ago and feeling better and no more symptoms would you go to the store (masked of course) if you didnt have a test done yet to confirm you're negative?

Criteria in MA: isolated for at least 10 days since symptom onset, 3+ days completely symptom free, 3+ days since you’ve used a fever-reducing medication (Tylenol, etc). Seems like you’re good to go assuming you isolated after receiving a + test result and have been symptom free more than 3 days.

2 negative tests is considered recovered for a healthcare worker, but isn’t the best indicator for most people since the virus can have trace amounts in your body for weeks - but this doesn’t mean you’re infectious.

I had it back in March - NY stated that after the two weeks were up you were allowed to end quarantine as long as all your symptoms went away and you hadn’t had a fever for a few days (I think the only symptom you could have was loss of sense/smell). I waited a few extra days after the two weeks before leaving but I didn’t need to get tested twice. I’m not even sure I could do that in NY back then anyway because everything was so crazy.

like

Feel like more is known compared to March and testing is more widely available. I’d rather get tested and confirm than risk the health of people beyond myself. Otherwise we will just keep prolonging reopening.

I would get tested first. I’ve heard 2 negative tests = recovered

Your way is one of two ways of allowing folks who tested positive to resume otherwise normal life. There’s the testing standard (your 2 negatives at least a certain # days apart) and there’s the symptomatic standard. My SO was told that after she isolated for 10 days from start of symptoms she was ok to leave the house and follow all the precautions as anyone else (because no one can tell you’re “you could be immune, we don’t know?”).

like

I heard that you should quarantine for 2 weeks after you feel better. But just to be safe I’d call and ask a doctor.

like

Why would you risk going to the store, not having tested negative, rather than just order stuff delivered to your house? I have a friend who had it, felt better for a while, and then symptoms reared their ugly head again. Better safe than sorry.

OP - do you know any of your neighbors? Do you have any friends? Family I not the only option here.

Rather than asking consultants, here’s an idea, ask your healthcare provider. Like doctor or nurse practitioner.

like

Yes I'm aware of that. It doesnt hurt to ask.

If you are wearing a mask you are good, can’t spread anything with a mask on. That’s why we wear them

Creative director 1 - my information is coming from doctors. Not sure what to tell you...

Has it been three weeks since you started feeling better or since you were positive? If you’re the former, you are probably in the clear but worth checking with a doctor just in case!

likehelpful

Thank you! I appreciate it.

You should not leave until you have the two negative tests and your doctor gives you the all clear to be in public once more. Not following guidelines is what is leading to the resurgence in cases. Masks don’t 100% prevent transmittal. Would you be okay if at the store you inadvertently infected someone and it resulted in their hospitalization or death? I would stay at home and have items delivered or a family member drop them off at your door until you meet all the required testing.

No. 12 weeks to be safe. Lots of Asymptomatic transfer

At a minimum, follow CDC guidelines for when it may be appropriate to “discontinue self-isolation” and check to your state/locality for any stricter recommendations. Even if you meet the criteria...could someone go for you? Why risk it?

Just want to thank the people in this bowl for giving me advice on several posts awhile back post-COVID layoffs. Had taken on 2 other (senior) people’s jobs/duties and then successfully managed and executed 3 major projects, I finally asked my new boss (team lead) about a title change and I’m glad I did! It was definitely something he had not thought about but could see the clear reasoning behind it and was willing to go to HR to ask if it was possible.

Have any of your law firms published a new or revised “remote work” policy - specifically what it might look like post Covid? We’ve had a lot of employees (in all peer groups) say they would like some type of flexibility to work at home going forward. I just want to hear the explanation for why staff who started during COVID are doing so badly on average (and I have heard this from every level including staff themselves) from the pro 100 percent work from home people. If you agree it’s real, what is your solution? If it can’t be fixed, are we just accepting that the people we expect to backfill our positions aren’t going to be ready?

I just had to get a Covid test. I’d rather get the shot every week than that swab. I can’t imagine doing weekly testing!

If any of you ladies froze your eggs when did you do so? Do you wish you did it sooner? When do you think is the ideal age to do so? Are you more likely to get covered if you get it at a later age? It’s looking less likely to find a partner due to covid / difficulties dating in this climate so I’m beginning to look into egg freezing options. Would appreciate any advice / insight 🤗

I feel totally blindsided by the interview I just had. I talked informally with Partner 1 before the interview and was told the position would be in one of the firm’s satellite offices. Then, during an interview with Partner 1 and Partner 2, Partner 2 mentioned that I’d have to move to the state where the firm is headquartered because he believes face-time is really important for training/mentoring. I have no plans to move and really hope this wasn’t all a huge waste of time.

I will be graduating this Fall, currently interning for TI as a Product Marketing Engineer; I will most likely accept an offer for their Technical Sales Representative 9month rotation program. The pay seems great ($113k base&bonus + 115% - 250% Payout) after finishing the rotation program. I enjoy the Sales Engineer role and think TI is a great company. Is it worth it to still apply to other companies this Fall recruiting season? (I want to be in San Francisco and possibly NYC.)

Serious note to all those posting on LinkedIn offering to write a recommendation for anyone they know who has been laid off. How about just writing it without having to be asked first. The last thing someone who just lost their job wants to do is ask you for help, even if they need it. If you want to make their day, just go ahead and do it. Oh, and don’t write about them in the past tense, especially if they haven’t changed their employment status on LinkedIn.
