I was laid off during Deloitte‘s mass layoff in July of last year. I have worked as an independent contractor since and projects haven’t been consistent at the client I’m working for. I’m looking to get back into a big firm and was seeing if anyone would be able to refer me or help get my foot in the door. I was a business analyst for 1.5 years at Deloitte and have several years of additional experience which I’d be more than happy to share.

It’s helpful, because it’s the closest thing to the investments side of the job. VCs still need to run diligence at the end of the day, especially in later stage VC (less of a focus in early stage for obvious reasons)
I wouldn’t say it’s a requirement but definitely a nice to have
Yeah, but market DD is still helpful - presumably you guys still do company positioning within the market vs just the market? And look at potential disrupters, tailwinds, value creation strategy, and all that?
We don’t really get into financial or accounting due diligence at Bain, but PEG experience really helps with PE/VC exits, at least from my peers. So much of evaluating a company is knowing how to evaluate a sector, screen within it, and ask the right questions to figure out how a company is situated. The financial stuff is obviously very important but I think you rely more on comps and would get a decent feel for what numbers can justify an investment on the job (for VC, it’s often unit economics and cash flow that you focus on, then if those check out, you look at pricing).
But as I’m sure you know, so much of entering VC is about networking - so that’s going to be your biggest driver here.
