Hi everyone, I'm currently a BDR at SF for the french market. And I'm questioning my next steps. One of the two possible path ahead of me are:
- SmB AE
- Enterprise corporate sales ("Little AE" working in large account with a senior AE)
Which way seems to be more profitable for my next career plan ? (I'm a little bit tired of cold calling all day though.)
Should I stay at SF more few years or switch elsewhere ?
Thanks for your help ! Salesforce

I would have pushed past fear and self doubt when it met me at the front door and taken every challenge, obstacle and failure with stride and as a life lesson!
As what they say, we live, we commit mistakes, but at the end of the day, we learn. Do you think there would’ve been a significant change in your life when you were able to grab those opportunities?
I would have started doing what I loved a long time ago. I heard people say that you should find a way to do something you love/something you would do for free. It turns out that's really great advice, but sometimes the journey can get a little hairy. Taking a step in the direction of the thing that feels intriguing and almost out of reach... that's the best thing I've ever done, hands down.
Didn’t spend nearly enough time networking and making connections in the legal world before going to law school. Had I known I feel I would have been better prepared and been in a much better position to get a position in Big Law.
You still have a lot of years to extend your networks. Or is it too late to establish connections right now?
I would have joined the civil service and followed my dream of working in diplomacy. Unfortunately my ex husband wasn't willing to move to different placements for my training so I never did it. I like a lot of things about sales though.
Well, I think the sales job worked for you. You still get to use your talents and language skills. But also, yes. We can only guess what it could have been if you pursued civil service. I also like to travel. Culture and new places always amaze me. Do you think it's too late for you to pursue it this time?
I wish I would’ve gotten into sales right out of college. I’m 29 now and I feel like I’d be making way more Had I not taken so long to figure out what I was doing
We kinda have the same regret. I didn’t think I’d actually enjoy my job now. What was your previous job? If you don’t mind me asking, of course.
Left a very cushy, well-paying job where I had likely maxed out on pay/career trajectory for a job with more financial upside. The company and role ended up being an awful fit and I’ve spent the past 18 months or so course correcting.
Certainly not career-defining by any means and I ultimately ended up in a great role, but I probably would have lost far less sleep had I stayed put, not to mention I’m not making as much as I was 3 years ago.
Woah! Congratulations! I admire you for this. You seemed like you have it all figured out and planned. I also aim for stability among everything else. I also have a toddler and as a parent, our children's needs are a top priority. I really wanted to go to law school but I guess I have to prioritize more important matters for now.
I should have followed my passion and not get into the first job I could get, which is how I ended up in sales and still are, 7 years after graduating from Industrial design. Looking to make that transition now.
I am happy to hear that! Yes, it is never too late to stir back to our passion. I also plan on going to law school someday but for now, I still have to prioritize other matters and keep working. How is it like finally being able to do your passion?
I should have pursued going back to school and getting my certification in Education.
@Consultant 1: Hello! How long did she take the course? I am also curious about it.
I would of stayed in the medial field
Why? Does it pay better than your current employment?
I wouldn’t have started cooking meth with my high school history teacher as now I’m living in Alaska under a new identity. I really wish I considered pursuing Sports Medicine instead.
Woah! Whatever you did, I’m sure it’s one for the books. What career did you originally plan on having?
I should have followed my passion and never started a sales role... now i feel trapped in sales forever
