If you were given the opportunity to have a front office job at a bulge bracket investment bank (e.g. Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, or others), would you take it even if you need to work much longer hours?

Nope, I’d never take a job knowing it had long hours again. Did it for my first/current job, will not do it again. I’m also not an ambitious person, just trying to make a living to support myself and find happiness. Grinding/climbing a corporate ladder doesn’t interest me.

Work your ass off when you’re young. Make the big bucks if you can. Get Goldman or Morgan Stanley on your resume. Because when you get married and have kids you’re not going to want to work those crazy hours.

I personally would. The long hours in audit don’t bother me, but since audit/accounting isn’t in line with my long-term career goals, I’d take the opportunity if given. If you have the job offer, could I ask how you marketed your accounting background for a front office role?

I am in a specialty group (not in audit nor tax), and my clients are all front office bankers.

Seeing what it has done after just one year to some of my closest friends, absolutely not. Might as well just be an entrepreneur.

I'd lean towards no, mainly due to the potential health problems. I'm sure some people are able to manager their time in those roles, but I think people shouldn't underestimate negative health consequences from lack of sleep, high levels of stress, little physical exercise, etc.

If interested in MBA and interested in T2 (ATK, OW, AP, A&M), how much does ranking matter? Do they do OCR at more/lower ranked schools than MBB? Are they more receptive to prospective candidates who didn’t participate in OCR than MBB? For simplicity’s sake, assume no covid impact (hiring freeze, etc).

D 🐠, I just got a denial on my H1B extension, after submitting documents for RFE. Has anyone been through the same, how do I reapply for it? Who should I reach out to?

If a client offers you a job - just verbal, nothing written - is it acceptable to continue pursuing opportunities with them? For context: Client initiated the offer / opportunity. they were serious conversations. The client was incredibly pleased with the past work I led for them. Lead partner wants to continue to bring me to meetings. He knows I was approached by client. Thanks!
