Accounting Exit Opportunities

If you were looking at two offers from the same company, how much of a comp increase would you need to take a contractor position vs a full time employee position? Please disregard the employee benefits part (Health Ins, 401k contributions, etc).

Agreed 50% to 100% depending upon how long the contract is for.

50% more. But that's just me, I like the idea of being an employee. If I'm a contractor I need a ton of cash and complete autonomy as to how and when I get the work done

Hey 🐠 - I’m early in my pregnancy and interviewing bc I’m afraid of being laid off soon. How can I find out from the firms I interview with whether they have minimum tenure requirements to qualify for paid maternity leave (e.g., need to be at firm 1 year before qualifying)? Obviously, this is the most important benefit for me and I will not be revealing my pregnancy during the interview process. Anyone been through this and have any advice? TIA

My brother started his own small business and I run the accounting with small equity ownership. Consistently put in 5-20 hours a week on top of my normal job for 3 years. Secured investor fundraising and now finally getting paid a salary of 15k a year on top of my current job. Equity distributions once profitable. 2nd income stream secured. Yesssssss

Anyone else considering not going to school this fall? I was honestly so excited but now I feel like 2 years being in a school environment is going to be a nuisance. I was accepted in R1 and life for me now is so different than it was then (due to health and family during covid) and I’m more depressed about having to stop my life for 2 years. Feels like all the excitement I had before is gone at this point.

I’ve noticed a lot of Big 4 decks are really focused on using icons, creating visual complexity through interesting shapes and patterns and cool color schemes, whereas all of the McKinsey decks I’ve seen are like simple bar charts with 4 shades of blue and a one line takeaway. Is this accurate and if so why? I have my own theory but curious what other people think.
