If you were to do it again but in 2020, would you become partner or jump to industry? Why?

Partner - for the same reason that P1 gives above. Yes, an industry C level and maybe VP can be very lucrative and you may hit the perfect tech start up Jack pot, but there are far fewer opportunities to make partner level regular income and have partner level retirement benefits in industry. Plus I like the change that comes w consulting. Even if you stay with your company for a career, you get to work with so many other businesses and have such a breadth of experiences.

Partner. Successful consulting firm partner is a better gig than the vast majority of industry positions.

I’m probably just way out of the loop but what do you mean but jumping to industry? As in moving to a corporate job?

funny

Got it, makes sense. Cheers

Given I am not particularly ambitious - I think being Partner will be what I choose again . It’s a well paying gig with social respectability - just that you don’t make FU money like in tech .

Picked up a 1997 (my birthyear) Coke today! My first luxury watch as I’m celebrating a few milestones. I’ve wanted to buy a retail Pepsi for 2 years and just got tired of waiting.

I love the thinner aluminum bezel with the smaller font and the red on black. The Coke is perfectly casual. The condition is amazing although it’s 24 years old - never polished, caseback never opened. Eventually I’ll get a rubber strap too.

I’m dying to talk about it soo any advice, questions, accessories, etc?

I’ve been watching re runs of SATC during the lockdown. I used to like this show but recently have found how dumb and demeaning the dialogues and story line is. Like when Carrie is dating a politician and asks her friends to vote for him “because I’m sleeping with him”. They sound so nagging and so brain dead. Funny how I didn’t think that 20 years ago

My sibling and I can't see eye-to-eye on much anymore... it's been tough during a time when we should be united (parent in the hospital, holidays). I know I owe her an ammends for a horrid accusation I made. However, I can't bring myself to do it just yet, and I can't seem to shake the negative accusation. I've also been talking about it to her adult child 😮‍💨 I was supposed to be the cycle breaker...

I hit my 6-month mark tomorrow. I’d be lying if I said it was easy the last few weeks, work has really stressed me out recently but I keep reminding myself how much better things have gotten and go do something. I’ve found restoring old tools has been a great way to keep myself busy. Thank you all for the support, keep coming back!

How much would you weigh location as a success factor of being a Partner (like living close to a major city)? Would you say this is high, moderate or low importance?
