Ah, I see. Yeah, my model is like $3k. I wanted a personal laptop for myself but decided against it once I looked it up.

Just to add on.... no... wfh stipends do not address this as you claim and this needs to stop being a rote response. You can't externally make a bad laptop good and believe it or not some people hate using external displays and need good laptop displays.

I do.... I prefer screens close up even if I use a desk. I also prefer working everywhere flexibly and not being confined. There are plentry of people do, especially former CS types. You are understimating how good higher end laptop screens are too and how efficiently you can work on 15-17 inches.

Could people specify the issues they have with Dell, Lenovo and MacBooks? There’s a lot of venting and invective on this thread but very little detail (background: trying to choose a laptop for next job). Presumably MacBook - while a solid choice - is only properly workable for Big Law in a Remote Desktop-type set up?
