Seems that Fearless girl was made by unfair men. “It became the financial world’s most iconic symbol of gender equality and won 18 honors at the prestigious Cannes Lions, including four Grand Prix” http://www.adweek.com/agencies/financial-firm-behind-fearless-girl-will-pay-5-million-for-allegedly-underpaying-women-and-minorities/

The lack of women in managment in any organization should be a red flag to everyone.
Op please stay in California and New York. No one needs your prejudicial ideas in the interior.
This seems like a topic you feel strongly about! I’d encourage you to do more research if so. Check out the “pipeline fallacy” for example — I included a link below for an example of an article talking about this in other fields! Market factors — such as choosing which firms to hire based on their commitment to diversity initiatives, the point of OP’s post — are pretty widely accepted as important tools in moving in the needle in fields that lack diversity. https://execed.economist.com/blog/industry-trends/racial-diversity-theres-more-work-be-done-workplace “Person of color” is also pretty widely accepted nomenclature for those who specialize in this sort of thing, but I’d absolutely encourage firms who are actively grappling with this to have informed discussions and set measurable, meaningful targets in ways that make sense for their geographic markets and firm sizes! Consider that the pandemic opens up remote working opportunities that might give you access to candidates you didn’t before!
100% this is amazing. I wish more people noticed this.
The time has come to face that desegregation, integration, affirmative action, quotas, set asides, diversity and inclusion are all euphemisms for ending white supremacy. White supremacy is the issue and we all need to face it.

Are you seeing many firms (outside very small ones) that still don’t have any women or POCs working there?
Yes, tons. Personal injury especially.
Why do you need to be a woman or POC to offer a diverse perspective? Consider also that something like 85% of attorneys are white and 65% are men.
...in case this is a serious question, consider that most diversity initiatives recognize that race and gender are necessary, if not sufficient, metrics for assessment. But no one is actually saying that “you can’t have a diverse perspective if you’re not a woman or POC” — they’re saying “if you don’t have women or POC perspectives, your organization is not diverse.”
I'm working on a massive M&A deal where the (large) legal team for the other side doesn't have a single woman or person of color (other than some woman specialists working on ancillary parts of the deal). Not that our firm is representative of the general population, but damn...
Amen to that.
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Sounds good, but also worth bearing in mind that the vast majority of American law firms have four attorneys or less: https://www.statista.com/statistics/822038/us-legal-services-market-firms-size/
No reason that they all have to be white men though. There’s no white male threshold they have to meet before hiring a woman or a person if color.
