If your senior doesnt like you, and you're just a staff 1, you're pretty much screwed right?

No. I've had Associates that may bother me, personally;however, I've never let that affect my professional opinion of them.

I dunno, Seniors are expected to handle conflict resolution with people working for them. So it's also on them to make nice. But it also depends on how respected the Senior is. If the have a history of disliking staff then that is an issue for them, if they are well respected, it's more of an issue for you and you need to start kissing ass. Maybe even ask for a talk to clear the air and see what you can do better to help repair the relationship. You have to swallow your pride though and apologize if they point to a specific action or behavior that led to them disliking you.

We spend a lot of time every day with the same people, there's bound to be personality clashes. Someone once told me you need to have either personality or talent or a little bit of both. People can "not like you" but if you produce good quality work they can overlook that personality and still continue to work with you and give you good reviews. You will just lose out to people with both. Besides some seniors can come of as direct or blunt and they might not actually have a problem with you...

I’m Staff 1 and my Senior hated me. What I did was just keep working and wait for the engagement to end. You’re not the only one so don’t worry

like

Make sure others like you. You can try to be positive and make sure u do a good job. Even if 1 senior doesn’t like you it doesn’t mean everyone else will

like

Yeah this ^ definitely better when they like you, but if you're doing a good job what can they do

Depends on if it's hatred for bad performance or a personality clash.

Managers and up literally don't care which staff is used unless there is a seriously low performing staff because the senior has to get the work where it needs to be regardless of which staff did the work. As a senior I get to pick and choose which staff I want to work with. If your senior doesn't like you I guarantee you won't be working together for very long.

Need career advice. Trying to break into a finance role, preferably an Analsyt role but I have no transferable experience. I worked as a mortgage loan officer (which is sales) for 2 years after college, but since mortgage is such a niche industry, no hard skills transfer and have no relevant undergrad internships unfortunately. I know I can essentially get any sales job I want in finance IE: financial advisor etc. but don’t want to be stuck in sales forever. Any advice?

Have any of you felt your careers aren’t progressing as fast as your yt contemporaries? I just went down a LinkedIn rabbit hole looking through the profiles of some women (non-black) who I worked alongside 12-15 years ago at internships and entry level roles. Almost all of them are director level. I’m still struggling to get to manager level. All of us started in media roles then transitioned to tech in the last 5 years or so. Has anyone else noticed this?
