Accounting

If you're a client who is on top of your stuff and actually sends the support your auditors need, we will love you. I will listen to how you're doing, how you're dog's doing, what's stressing you out, and be very friendly in all my emails and acknowledge your hard work. And when we send out opinion, I will genuinely thank you and say I'm looking forward to next year. Anyone else have some clients that are just amazing to work with?

I think it must be difficult for a lot of our client contacts when the audit comes around because it is either/or: 1. A reminder to them that they have been explaining the same process to the auditors for the last 10 years meaning that they haven’t done anything different in their life for the last 10 years 2. They realize that even though they have been doing the same task for 10 years they still don’t know how to do it right.

Even if you are a bad client, I will still accept dog and cat photos. But nothing else

I have a client that's almost like that. They can be somewhat snappy sometimes but for the most part they're great. Just had a call with them and we were talking about ppanned vacation time that had to be pushed, WFH feelings/thoughts, etc. It was really nice

I had a few smaller clients that were like this, some were routine engagements, some were initial audits that were petrified of disappointing the auditor/management because they had never been through one. And yes I would bend over backwards for those clients, even though shittier audits that lagged behind or required a ton of prep/client coaching beforehand often tried to overshadow not by bleeding over on both ends of the good audit. Didn’t care - I’d give the good clients my best no matter how I got crunched because they were decent/considerate human beings that even on occasion felt bad and stood up for how we were being treated internally.

I have a few clients that have their shit together and know what the hell they're doing, but I only truly realize this after the key personnel has just left and somebody with no fucking clue and/or ego comes in and fucks everything up.

No matter how much you like each other, they’ll always want you to gtfo as quickly as possible (feeling is probably mutual). I feel this way about several of my clients. I’m always courteous, but with a few I actually like and go above and beyond - genuinely care about their well being and their life outside of work. Also, I’m not in audit but lead several huge provisions in my past *shudder*.

@EY does your company offer any specials re: student loan refi? For example Deloitte gives an additional 0.25% off Sofi. Kinda not sure if I should be refi-ing now, considering I’m looking at potential $75k -> $100k+ raise if I end up at EY in a few months. Trying to take advantage of low rates while they last tho, not sure what they’ll be like in ~2-3 months time
