I was in a similar position as you, except I was getting promoted to senior. I originally wanted to have a years experience of being a senior but I just couldn’t deal with her bullshit anymore. I ended up finding a job in industry that I would’ve gotten with a years experience as senior at pwc anyways so I left. Life is def better for me now!
Depends on the kind of bulling you are experiencing. You also should feel safe at work and shouldn't stand for being treated the way you are.
I feel bullied by a manager when I was senior. I left and also switched service line (audit to advisory). Couldn't be happier.
I also was in a similar situation. It drove me to switch industries even though i had my heart set on the one. It was the best decision I ever made. Im thriving and enjoy coming to work. And just avoid that manager at all costs.
Bullying how?
Snarky comments, condescending, always making any small thing that goes wrong into other people’s fault despite the team working overtime to please her and partner - she’s definitely a bad mgr (doesn’t know her shit, skated through based on how great her teams are and takes all the credit). Wondering now if it’s even worth it to get the title or find an opportunity where I can at least get my life back even if people like her would exist anywhere
I’ve tried that but it hasn’t worked or my PML isn’t trying hard enough. Spoke with PML and other career advisors about the issue including HR (with other team members who feel the same) - our group/Firm is having a major turnover issue so chances are very high that requests to transfer jobs or groups are denied
*if it’s worth the stress and emotional burden of putting up with her
Up to you
Report them to code of conduct! If they are doing this to you they will do to others, they need to learn that just because they are higher in level that doesn’t mean they are more important and can treat you badly to feed their pride
If your team/firm is experiencing an exodus, they don't want to lose you either. If you are really okay leaving, give it one last chance before you leave. Come up with a concise list of why it is difficult to work with her and what needs to be changed. Then sit down with the manager and also with your engagement partner separately and have a discussion. Be professional and factual about it. It's all about the tone. Tell them if these things are not addressed by when, then you can't stay on the team. She might not take it well which again proves she is not a good manager. Also, even if she changes, it won't last, but then you get to leave PA when you want, not pushed out by her. Stand tall. Good luck.
