If you’re living in NYC or other big city, has the stay at home order made you think about moving to suburbs so at least you’d have a back yard ?

No it just makes me realize how boring suburban life would be. Staying with my parents in the suburbs rn

Yeah same here

Arrow Icon

Yes and no... I want the extra space for a home office but I would be bored in the suburbs.

lol no. i can’t imagine ever trying to take care of a yard..... or a stand-alone house in the suburbs for that matter. i’ve lived in apartments in the middle of the city my whole life.

I grew up in farmland. I love the energy of the city during the day, and my quiet respite in the burbs afterwards.

Move out and you won’t regret it. As long as you work in NYC you’re fine. There’s no need to live and work in NYC. That means you’re just living to work and never taking yourself out of that atmosphere. Obviously this advice is for once you want to raise a family. Otherwise I would probably live in NYC. Only other way would be to earn enough to live in NYC during the week and buy an escape place for the weekends so you get the best of both worlds.

Yes, it has made me want to leave the city and never look back.

Yes. Would love a backyard or even a patio at this point. Would love fresh air from my own home.

lol I see the people on their balconies in Madrid, Milan, etc and I’m jealous. Grass is always greener on the other side...

Depends on your personality and where you are in life. I personally love how there’s practically something to do 24 hrs in the city.

No because by the time my lease is up and I move this all would be over

Arrow Icon

Yes

I have a back yard and a large porch so I’m good right here lol. I just wish I had a car though.

Arrow Icon

No, my apartment has balcony and my neighborhood is very walkable, with a lot of restaurants around.

Arrow Icon

Not for dine-in but I can pick up

I’m at my parents and very glad they have a courtyard plus living room, family room and dining room. Never saw the need for so many rooms before 😅

Arrow Icon

You’re working anyway. Why do you care?

I left all my friends and family to come to NYC three years ago. Now I’m going through this pandemic feeling overwhelmingly lonely and so extremely worried about them. People who get to spend this time with loved ones should be grateful. With that being said, I am absolutely going to start planning my move once this is over.

Arrow Icon

i could go on an explanatory rant about how my only living grandparents are assholes or how i know my parents have their shit so much better together than me, that if anybody needed to drop something off for the others, it’s them for me. even though they’re about 70. but the truth is i was drunk(er than now) when i made that comment and it was too late to delete when i reread it sober. but regretted it and i tried. and i found myself hoping nobody would even read it. so this is me sending you love now. not ridicule. so this is all i’m gonna write. and i’m sorry.

No. I have no interest in having to take care of a yard. A balcony would be nice, though.

I work small (tiny) law. I make mid-100s, so not great salary, but my firm is so laid back. If I bill 1000 hours, that's fine (we were a remote firm before COVID made it cool). Compared to all my peers getting crushed under 1800+ billable requirements, I've got severe imposter's syndrome. Did I do something right or have I set myself up for failure by avoiding the pressure cooker? (I was at a firm for 2 years that was 1800+.) Curious as to thoughts/experiences.

Hello! I’m new at fishbowl and would love to use this platform to grow more professionally through active listening and advice. That being said, I’m a strategist with the resume of a media person. Can anyone help me with better positioning myself as a strategist? I really want to start a strategy role but I don’t have the actual experience and I’m afraid I’m not passing the initial screening for a strategy role because of my resume.
