I had a very frank conversation with my HR contact first. I told her i was dry heaving in the morning from anxiety in anticipation of the day and wasn’t able to sleep or eat from stress. That progressed into chatting 1:1 with the partner, then director, then senior manager, etc. on down the line. I hated the idea of bailing on my team, people I genuinely liked working with. But at the end of the day, it’s the BIG4.... you’re just another body. The audit will get done. Do what’s best for your health, it’s simply not worth the toll it takes.
Thank you. I hope you’re feeling much better!
I did it last busy season. I simply told them, “I cannot do this anymore and I am choosing to prioritize my health”. I received a lot of cold shoulders on my way out. But it was the best decision of my life.
I am making that decision and putting in my notice soon. Good luck OP! I think I have other things I need to prioritize in life at this point over a job I don’t intend on doing for the rest of career life.
Thanks! I feel the same way
How can you compare true mental health issues to being overly concerned about leaving work to address it. There is only one "you" and if you view your total health is comprised of 1) physical and 2) mental, 50% of " you" needs to get better. Just tell the truth and feel proud that you did and that you put you first. No one else will put "you" first.

I’m there. I raised concerns to the partners and pulled support to back up my case. Was promptly told;
1.) “don’t look at py actual hours it doesn’t mean anything” (we’re short 250 senior hours based on py)
2.) “having one senior instead of two like last year alleviates the inefficiencies of having multiple seniors”
3.) “we’re not commuting to work anymore so you have more time in the day to review workpapers this year”
4.) “we had 5 new funds last year so the workpapers are already set up and we only have 2 new funds this year” to justify only giving me a new associate who started in November.
Yeah, this is not what I signed up for.
Just tell them u outtie😁
Exact words I’ll say to my partner 😆
I was just really honest with my team, the toll the job was taking on my mental health and life, and thankfully it was super well received. This varies by office though, but really they have no right to be “mad” at you.
