Mine is open but our kids are at home. They have reduced hours and condensed classes because fewer kids are there now. Drop offs and pick ups are curbside with staff walking the kids in. No field trips or outside guests are coming in indefinitely. Cleaning like crazy obviously.
My daughter’s daycare opened up. In addition to what attorney1 said, the staff wear smocks knowing that the infants and young toddlers sometimes get messy, cry, etc. so if they think any fluids from the child got on their smock, they change into a different one. They are doing everything humanly possible and I think it is good to get my daughter interacting with others again (even if they have masks on)... it has been a godsend to be able to get work done during the day again!
We have similar protocols in CA- temp check at drop off, curbside drop off and pick up at set times, kids can’t bring toys, fewer kids per class. Parents also have to wear masks at drop off.
I will say life is SO much better with my girl back in school. I have space again and she’s happier- either because she’s got space from her parents and/or is able to play with friends again.
My heart aches for all the mamas who are still without childcare. I was standing on the threshold of burn out.
Temp checks at drop off and pick up, hand washing prior to entry, all belongings stay segregated up front, parents no longer allowed past waiting area, no visitors, no tours.
Ours is similar to M1. Temp checks in lobby, hand sanitizer for parents before signing in, no parents in class rooms, kids wash hands as soon as they enter classroom. Additionally, the teachers wear masks all day. I was worried it would scare our son (2) but he doesn’t seem to mind.
They reduced hours a little bit, but with no commute it’s not an issue for us. Classroom sizes are smaller for now just because so many people are electing to keep kids at home.
Same protocols as others have mentioned AND mine is making me bring 5 outfits in ziplocks for my toddler to change into when he arrives (+ daycare shoes that get left there). It’s a lot!
