I feel like people in this industry who didn’t know all of this before watching the movie weren’t paying attention.
Pretty much the same. If someone works in digital marketing and didn’t know that these apps were designed to keep people engaged and mining data to sell more ads, then they haven’t been paying attention. I did think it was interesting to hear the perspectives of the creators / monetization leads though. I also agree that we aren’t prepared for what this sophisticated technology has unleashed, and it’s bringing out the best and worst in people.
Nothing surprising in there, but picked up some nice tips!
Wow
Eh, most of it was overblown. Bunch of overly rich people with too much time on their hands, now thinking about everything they've ruined? Most disruptive innovation has unintended downsides. To me, the worst was the Gmail guy claiming that Gmail alerts on a phone made it addictive? Did he ever use a Blackberry or even an internet plan and email client on a flip phone before that? That stuff already existed, but now after he's made a ton of money, he thinks that the founders of Google should have listened to his concerns and done something?
