I’ll be 38 when I enter my graduate program and I’m curious how being the oldest may impact the way people view me. If you were the oldest, did you notice a difference?

It is never too late to learn, no one will judge you by your age but by your desire to grow as a professional, this makes you different, I congratulate you on your decision.

Do you mean how your peers will see you? because this type of study is done by older people with a long career development mainly, it is rare to see a younger person in graduate studies, but still, it is not the most important thing is not it?

I remember in undergrad we had an older lady, maybe her late 50s or early 60s, that would attend our math class. No one really talked to her but no one made fun of her either. She was just there learning like everybody so we didn't really make a big deal out of it

My dad got his master's degree in his mid 40s and he would always talk about how much he loved making that choice.

38 is really not that old in a grad program. I was one of the "oldies" in my undergrad and it wasn't all that different. People came to me a little more often for life advice and a little less often with party invites which was fine with me.

Hi all. Looking for advice. I’m trying to decide between 2 job offers (same salary) but different positions. One is a study director (essentially a project manager for a medical device company) and the other is in Quality Assurance (medical device company as well). Study director position company is slightly smaller but growing. I really want growth possibilities and a good career future. Any advice?

So I got invited to do an on-site interview and as part of it, the hiring manager wants me to present some of the chemistry I'm currently working on. The problem is all my work has been government contracted and hasn't been published, so due to confidentiality I can't present any complete schemes or specific structures. Any tips on how to ace this presentation?
