Curious to why you want to move from mbb to cs degree. It’s really not all that unless you are passionate. Speaking from personal experience, went to school and got CS degree as undergrad, 4/5 of my friends are doing consulting.

Think I saw your post earlier this week. If you want to go for SWE in big tech is online degree really gonna get you there?

like

yea but i imagine it would come up with your location and not being in the schools city when you apply for jobs? also the in person programs have recruiting events for the companies you would apply to im sure

I hire experience over degree every time. Can you work and get the degree at the same time? Seems incredibly foolish to walk away from two years of McKinsey experience for something that people teach themselves on the side. You’d be better off getting an MBA from a top tier school.

Work and school at the same time :)

What’s your goal? To work for Apple, Google, etc? Honestly, might be tough to get in after an online degree. Not saying you are not going to learn much from an online degree but their technical interviews are not easy.

If you can get the degree while working that is obviously the best. Especially if the experience in any way ties to what you would like to be doing. If you are set on not working, I think you should just plan on finishing the degree as soon as you can. Just commit your year + at home to completing school (take more credits per semester than the norm).

Where do you think the CS degree will take you and why can’t you get the job now? But if you do the program yes it is worth 60 grand to enjoy 2 years of youth. You’ll make more post degree.

I want a software engineer role. Management consulting isn’t very relevant

At a former company, they let you expense $20 for working 10+ hours in a day, but you could never use it because it would always be rejected. Recently started at a new firm, and I had a rough week last week (two 14+ hour days). New firm has a similar policy, so I asked. Was told not to submit the $20 reimbursements. Just as I was about to get frustrated, he told me I should get dinner for my wife and me. Only rule was to keep it under $100. Don't like working 14 hour days, but this was nice.
