4lbs should be fine. Is it possible to shift things around between bags at all just to avoid having to worry about this?
Forgot to report here. I checked my bags at the check in counter, the agent didn’t even comment on the heavy bag. He did put “Heavy” tag on it.
And the best part of all was, the flight was overbooked. I got upgraded to Delta One at the gate ☺️ it was ATL-ICN on their brand new A350 Delta One suite 😁
Do you get 3 for free because you were upgraded or are flying first class/Delta One on one of your segments? If so, then you get 70lb per bag. If not, double check the baggage allowance on Delta. Not all international destinations get 3 bags.
To/From Australia New Zealand & the Phillippines via the Pacific only get 3 50lb bags and To/From Brazil get 3 50lb bags.
To/from Canada get 3 70lb bags.
The computer normally gives them a few pounds to work with when checking bags. If you are close, no big deal. If not, then you will be asked to repack or pay the additional fee.
Experience with United is that a few pounds overweight is overlooked with my 1K status. I’d anticipate needing to pay for anything >55lbs.
I have had a few times where curbside brought my stuff inside for check in...4 lbs should be good though.
International bags can weigh 75 lbs on some routes with no penalties
Jealous!!!! That’s amazing
Can't speak for delta specifically, but likely depends on how much overweight. If you check in curbside, you can usually tip those guys to overlook with differences. If you throw them $20, they won't blink at the weight.
I’m flying to Asia, so 2 for free + 1 extra for medallion members. It’s 4 lbs over the allowance. I don’t know how strict they are. Will try the curbside check in, wish me luck!!
I’m flying coach, btw...
70 lbs is the limit
I think they’ll overlook it for 4 lbs. also you should really try out the premium select cabin. Just recently did a flight from the US to Shanghai in premium select and I swear flying will never be the same. Best experience ever! Made the 13 hour flight go by so fast Hope I can try out delta one someday ...
I’ve never had an issue with Delta, whether in US or internationally, for heavy bags. They tag it as such and go about their day, especially if you have status and/or their card
