I’ll managing several people of the same level on this project, and all of them are men.

I’m worried I could come off as apologetic or indecisive on our day to day if I lack confidence in my voice and words. I want them to trust me as a leader, but I sense some initial hesitation given we’re all the same rank and competing for promotion.

🐠 , any advice on smart ways to frame directives and questions, without making my team feel bad or competitive?

I’d make sure someone higher than you makes sure they are aware you are managing them. People may get defensive if they are all the same level and trying for the same promotion.

I find email communication is sometimes helpful in these situations. Send recaps emails on tasks - as a team player: " ok guys to sum up here's what we agreed on"
You can also use management tools - if you open the team tool then they won't be surprised to see you assign work -
Don't let them step over you. Make sure you are always one step ahead.
Trust takes time. Be patient and show compassion.

How come you are managing them if you are all the same level?

Hello! I am looking for a Communications/Project Management role in the tech field. I have seen similar job postings at Amazon, Google, and Capital One. My background is in Fintech with a variety of roles including Business Analyst, Communications Consultant, and Implementation Project Management. Would anyone be open to referring me to a recruiter? I am also open to any other companies that come to mind. Thank you in advance!

I'm currently working at Cognizant from the last 2 years and will be getting released from my current project soon. My tech stack is Tableau, SQL, Alteryx, Informatica with basic knowledge of Power BI. Can someone please help me about how to get a project with onsite opportunities and which accounts should I target? Thank you in advance.

I prepared a presentation for an interview with a sales leader, it went well and I was offered a final interview with regional manager. The sales leader I interviewed with gave me a bunch of feedback, but said to find out information about tech stack, which I for some reason, didn’t consider. I come to find out that deep, hidden within the website of the hypothetical client, they use the service already. Do I roll into the final interview and play dumb or do i present and then come clean?

I am a project manager with the strong desire to transition into product management but I’m feeling a little discouraged. Every opportunity I come across mentions 7-10 years experience. I just started training for the Google UX certification with hopes that may better prepare me. Any other suggestions? Words of advice on how to best make this transition?

Thanks in advance!

One of my friend is having offer from
Oracle Pune for software developer role in Oracle store team. but he does not have clear idea of the role whether it will be operations, support or development work.

Im a PL account manager at a small independent agency in kingsburg, ca. I’ll be having my review soon & want to ask for a significant raise but have no idea how much to ask for. been at agency for 7 years, getting paid 50k/year. I feel like I’m being under paid, especially because I get no commission, I work on farm & commercial accounts (on top of a $650k PL book), manager asked me to take on accounting work & commercial/farm claims reporting/review. My position is unique. how much should I ask

I’ve seen the same job description from three different small business firms (exact same job description language). From what I can tell, it’s all for the same client and might be for the same federal client. Anyone know if this is typical? Helping a friend navigate the federal / government contracting job search but he thought he would be duplicating job applications. Thanks!

Does anyone have any idea of a really, really nice and high-end thing to do with a client in the Chicago western suburbs? Something roughly equivalent to Alinea with wine pairing, but in the western suburbs. It needn't center on food and wine; I just used Alinea as an example as to price point and general impression.

Anyone going to be in SF during the week? I’m on a project by myself for the next few months. Would be nice to grab a drink after work.
