I’m 16 weeks pregnant (baby number 2) and applying for new roles. I don’t desperately need a new job before baby gets here, but I’d like to see if there’s a role that is a better fit and more financially advantageous. Moms who have interviewed, negotiated & accepted new roles while preggo- any tips?

You should definitely ask about if you would be eligible for maternity leave. A lot of companies have a requirement that you work for 1 full year before you qualify for maternity leave.

Yes, I did think of this. If I didn’t qualify for paid leave, I was planning to take the time unpaid, using the salary bump to cover.

I interviewed and accepted my current job a little less than a month before my baby was born in August. I’m still working through it now, but my biggest mistake was not negotiating my start date better. I started 6 weeks after birth albeit it is remote but I was still not ready to start working. I had no concept of what having a baby would be like. Negotiate your start date and if you can even negotiate to start part time to transition back into working. That’s what I was able to do. Good luck!

Ideally I’d like to start before baby is born. If I don’t find anything close to baby’s due date, I’ll probably hold off and just wait to start applying while I’m on mat leave and negotiate a start date after my clawback period ends for the same reason you mentioned. Since this is baby number two for us, I definitely know I need that maternity leave time for baby and I to get in a groove.

I did this unintentionally - accepted an offer with an 18% raise and realized I was pregnant with #2 a week later. It was tough to establish myself in my new managerial role while dealing with a 18mo old and a pregnancy. Then, just as I hit my groove with the organization, it was time for my (unpaid) maternity leave. You might find a better situation, but I can’t recommend starting a new role while pregnant if you don’t need to.

Hi everyone. I interviewed for a sales role at Amazon. I was told the role was an L6 and I can stay based in Chicago. Well, the recruiter emailed me today saying the hiring team felt I was better suited for an L5 role (estimated total comp is $140K-$150K) and I would have to move to Seattle. They'll send me an offer if that works. Any advice or opinions on how to negotiate? For context, I gave a desired salary range of $280K-$310K since this was an L6 role, and my current TC at P&G is $200K.

I’m not currently looking for a change (I left for industry in 2020 and really like my job). When recruiters message me on LinkedIn I reply to them because you never know when I’ll be open in the future and I don’t want to burn bridges. This one recruiter messaged me about 6 weeks ago for an assistant controller position and I replied back saying I’m currently happy with my job and am a VP of Accounting so wouldn’t be interested in an assistant controller role. He has reached out every 2 weeks

A company called DASH technologies reached out to me saying I pay 16% of first year salary once I get a job. They said they will get me interviews. I have been working on my job search for a long time. What are your thoughts on these types of staffing agencies. I can get interviews on my own but no offers. I'm applying as a Software Engineer/ Web/ Fullstack.

MBB interviewers: “What’s your management style”, “What’s your communication preference”, ever hurt to provide a story to illustrate those traits? Or best spend that time elsewhere (“tell me about a time” questions, the case itself, etc). Ideally would do both, but only 30/45 mins here. TIA!

Anyone know much about routers? My father in Leander has an incredibly fast Asus router, but his home is 7,000 sq ft and the signal completely dies when you go up the stairs to their mother in law suite where their tv is.
