I was an intern at 28. As the old adage goes, run YOUR race. Don't worry so much about what others are doing. Focus on what's right for you and what you want in your career.
Stay in your position as long as possible... I’ve seen a lot of people get laid off because of title inflation. Better to be an employed overqualified junior than an unemployed under-qualified mid-level.
Not really. Most people go to portfolio school. And start out when they’re 24-25
Yes. Some people are juniors at 35. It’s all about how long you can remain relevant, not your actual age itself. I started really young, but most people in advertising have had a job or two before getting into the biz.
I was 27 and landed senior in 3 years. Your age is an asset not a hinderance - more life experience, confidence, maturity and most importantly, you have a more diverse background to pull from. You’ve got a MASSIVE edge bud. You’re lucky!
Seems like all the only thing that really matters is getting to CD by 35...
Or they come for you in the night!
I was 32 year old junior and 3 years later I’m here. Keep busting your ass. You’re doing great and, like SC4 said, your age is an asset.
Well damn! Talk about a confidence booster. Thanks guys. I’ve been a junior for only a year and have plenty to learn. Great to hear my age is a benefit 😌
Started at 28 too. Hustling hard to “catch up”. Like 👆C1 said; run your own race and do what’s right for you.
Not at all. I was 26 when I got my first job as a junior CW and if anything I felt like I was on the younger side compared to other creatives in my agency.
Omg I thought I was the only one! (27) and I know plenty of inflated “seniors” my own age.
I was also 26 when I was a junior copywriter. Don’t worry about it, I promise no one else thinks about it.
I was an intern at 26. If anything it helped me advance faster because I was more mature and could be in front of clients. I wouldn’t worry about it. Also I have literally no idea how old anyone in the creative department is. I truly just don’t think about it.
Stepped into ad school at 31. Intern at 33. Jr. Writer at 34. Freelancing mid-level, pushing 37. Fighting the good fight
I’m 26 and just got my first gig out of an internship! Right there with you friend. We’ve got time.
Junior at 32.
Drink some whiskey and stop whining .
How many years of experience do you have?
>4 you should be outgrowing that junior title.
Who cares? Are you good?
I was a junior at 26, got promoted, switched jobs, now senior at 28. You’re good
