You gotta start throwing a lot of money at that student debt before increasing a tax disadvantaged brokerage account

Whoa. I’m a total newb on investing but I know that $50k needs to get to work. Put a chunk in HYSA for your emergency fund, invest some to get it to grow and pay down some of that school debt (if that’s what you want)

Is the 50 your emergency fund? If so I would keep it safe. If not and no debt or other near term needs. I would invest it. I personally would max out tax advantaged accounts first. If you are already doing that, I would put money in ITOT or VTI with the majority and if you want take some shots with a smaller amount.

Yeah I would use at least $40K of that checking to pay down that debt

Make sure your retirement stocks are invested in stock funds or target date funds. Then start attacking that debt, starting with however much of that $50k you don’t need

8 months ago I opted out of a longer term gig with my company because it isn’t what I truly enjoy doing. Since then, I’ve kept my current role and have interviewed extensively, confidently turning down some roles, getting rejected from others I would’ve killed for. I’ve taken most of it in stride but was just told by my current job I have two weeks before they need my seat. The idea of being unemployed (25M) terrifies me but I don’t want to settle for a role I’m not ecstatic about.

How do I know if leaving consulting would be right for me? I’ve been thinking about it for the past year. I feel very unfulfilled and unappreciated. I tried to brace through till next promo - which I ended up being passed over for last Dec. I’ve started looking into other lines of work that may be more rewarding for me, but I can’t seem to make the leap. Mainly, I feel reticent on letting go of the prestige that comes with consulting, and that maybe I should hold out for the promotion.

3 years post-undergrad in biopharmaceutical consulting and applying to get my mba this fall. I’m considering healthcare investment banking as a post-mba career, as I enjoy the M&A process of banking. What exit opportunities exist? I’ve seen the posts about post-mba IB and they’re not all that encouraging.
