Working 40 hours a week would be a 33% increase from what you’re doing now and still give you tons of time to unwind. Sounds like a real first world problem you have to work through here.

Sure so how do you envision working hard and earning more as you said? Switching jobs? That’s an option. You could also start having conversations about what a promotion looks like where you’re at and how you’re ready for the additional responsibility.

What do you do?? Honestly, I’m desperately wanting better work-life balance without having to sacrifice some of my financial goals.

I’m currently in a similar situation. I’m in my mid-30s, make $130k, work less than 25hrs a week, and will be able to continue teleworking post-pandemic. TBH, I plan to coast for the next couple of years. I don’t want to give up my amazing WBL. #TeamNoStress

Yep 😎

Wow I wish! Maybe spend the other time on an entrepreneurial venture if you enjoy your current job.

I'm in the same boat. 31 make 100k at my full time where I work no more than 35hrs a week. It's fully remote and I was able to take on a part time remote auditing job with flexibility for me to work as much as I want. I am about to get engage and want to start a family soon. This week a recruiter reached out for a fully remote mgr job making 150k. This is what I've been wanting to progress to mgr but I've become accustomed to my "chill" job and the nice WLB.

Why not start a business or side hustle if you can swing it? I would love to work only 30 hours per week.

GIRL 100k for 30 hours a week sounds great, I would stay right there. Start a business or nonprofit, learn a new trade, go to workout classes and cook… What job is this? Serious question. Okay, now for my more serious answer. What I would ask yourself is what career ladder would you pivot to, and is that specific thing something you would value more than the freedom your current role gives you. In general, I think you should do something because you want to (e.g. you have something specific in mind that you want to do), not because you’re scared not to (e.g. you’re worried you’ll slack off). I would not leave just to leave or because you think the anti-slack grass is greener on the other side. It is for some and isn’t for others! I think especially with more high paying, high hour jobs you run the risk of burning out much more quickly if you’re just doing it because you’re scared not to. But really, what do you do and for whom if you don’t mind sharing?

Hahaha! Pretty much I was you 3 years ago! 36 with a corporate job at similar comp working approx 30 hours a day.... but I was bored so I move to Accenture for similar comps. I hustled and some stars had to align but now im getting paid double but working ~ 50 hours per week. Do I regret it? Sometimes Would I go back? Highly unlikely but who knows 👍

I’m in the same boat. I like my job a lot. It’s chill and I’m doing stuff I like doing, but my TC is $100k. I have a relevant masters degree from a top school and my classmates are making $130k+. Part of me wants to get a fully remote job with higher comp but idk if that will make my life better or happier

Same OP, 30 at $96 k and work 40 ish hours a week and go back and forth between working harder/getting more involved/ etc and just “coasting”…. Leaning towards coasting though. Sorry im not much help!

I was making about 125k TC working 35-40 hours per day. Felt bored and that my peers were ahead of me so made a jump. Now working 60-70 hours per week for about 200 TC and feel like I really didn't know how good I had it. The grass is always greener.

It’s all personal preference. I would maybe try to find some outside ventures that could help you find some challenges and make you feel rewarded while making more money too. Also- Where do you work? Sounds like something I’m very interested in. If you don’t want to share publicly are you able to private message me?

How - literally how - do I ask people to respect home/ work boundaries without coming off difficult? I feel burnt out from zooms, the noise from Slack and then the f**king SMSs that arrive on my personal cellphone. It’s like being watched 24/7. At the beginning we had an idealistic ‘no meetings 1-2pm’ block in everyone’s calendar but it lasted about 2 weeks. Also I actually resent being contacted constantly on my personal phone when I don’t have a work one.

I got a not good observation from my principal last May teaching on Zoom. I was beside myself at what he said about my teaching and thought it would pass. I am still so frustrated that for the first time the observation he gave me is making me not want to teach or come in to school. I can imagine I'm not teaching my best because of my distaste for my principal's senselessness which hurts the kids.
