I’m 5 years into my role (post under grad) and struggling to figure out what to do next. I want to job hop, and try something new, but not entirely sure what. I’m an Teams implementation consultant, and have mostly been doing implantations/Teams work for 5 years, but I don’t want to do this forever. I like the idea of UX, UX research, or some kind of SWE design work, maybe even Product Management. I’m all over the place, how did you find what you wanted to do next/start the job process?

Should you stay in a position that has very limited promotion opportunities because of its org structure? We have a relatively small team of various bands of staff level who report to a Director who has no intentions of adding additional mgt layers (understandably). There is apparently growth opportunities on a IC track, but those don’t seem to be granted as often as management promotions.
