Just here to say that I went through the same at S& and at my current company. Consulting is not for everyone. Remember that you are not terrible or worthless. You are smart enough to have secured this job at one of the top consulting firms. You will likely do very well somewhere else where there is less stress, lower expectations, less hours, and the opportunity to focus on one thing and specialize. I highly recommend seeing a therapist to at least tackle your feelings - I have been seeing one for a few months and it’s been very helpful. Imposter syndrome is super common. By the way, I’m probably 10+ years older than you. You have the luxury of being at the start of your career. In five years, you’ll look back and laugh at this and be grateful that you came out on the other side.

Literally having the exact same experience - I did not start out hating it but somehow now I have become so anxious to put even a single word on paper and extremely miserable because it’s obviously affecting my work. Can empathize with what you’re going through. I’m sorry you’re going through this! Maybe try talking to someone you trust at the company? If there are parts of the job you like, try to focus on those and just get through the day. Simultaneously see if you can use prior experience to get other interviews etc. Hope things get sorted out for you soon!

Forsure thank you! Definitely have been interviewing quite literally everywhere but feel impostor syndrome when I explain my experience simply because I have been so miserable lately. Don't feel like I accomplish much when I feel so shit.

Just want to add that I feel exactly like this, have been here for 10 months and have recently been extremely stressed, miserable, and literally counting out the hours till the weekend. I don’t want to continue like this but feels like there’s no solution right now :( we’ll both make it through🤍

Quicksand. The more you struggle the quicker you sink. Stop. Breathe. Consider your options and a plan for how (and who to engage for support) to get back on track. You just started your career---theres loads of time and resources to right the ship --- or at the very least learn through process of elimination what you don't like - and pursue a different path

OP are you really doing poorly or just being hard on yourself? Can you give examples of things you’re doing indicating a bad job? Specifics may help us help you

What level are you at OP? What makes you think you're doing a poor job at your current project?

Why are you doing idiotic things? The self realization is a positive but understanding why is the next step

Starting on Monday. Transactional. Super nervous and anxious. Thoughts on this? Any tips, advice? Thanks!
