I’d try to be mindful, sending flowers, telling them that you’re there but that they can also take the time they need to find their balance back. I think I would appreciate to see my pain acknowledged and people ready to give me space if that’s what I need.

Speaking from experience, it will be painful for them when your baby arrives, but they will still feel so happy for you and love your baby. They may just need a little time and space to collect themselves and grieve and you shouldn't take their distance personally.

My best friend and I had due dates 2 months apart, but I miscarried. It isn’t as bad as you would think when I hang out with her daughter (1yo) now. Immediately after the miscarriage I think flowers, a meal, or a little treat are very nice gestures. If you’re close with her, checking in a few weeks later is nice too. For me, that’s when it got really sad and depressing.

Hi mamas, how do you handle a sick child when you cannot take the days off? My son is 18 months, just started daycare and he’s been sick a lot. I just changed job, so I don’t have enough PTO to take, but I’m able to WFH. Husband cannot work from home or take time off since he has a big deadline at work right now. How do you handle a sick child but also get the work done? We don’t have any families live close by neither.

I found out today I lost my baby at 8 weeks—still in shock. I’ve never had a miscarriage (or a pregnancy) before and we’ve been doing IVF for more than a year. Physically, my doctor said I will be okay the day after the D&C. I need to tell work what I can and can’t do, but have no idea. I know everyone is different, but what have you done/wish you’d done work-wise afterwards? Do I just plan on a normal schedule on Wednesday or should I expect to be curled in a fetal position crying for a week?

I am curious how many high school and middle school teachers of both low and high incidence disabilities, feel like they are knowledgeable enough about transition services. Additionally, how did you become knowledgeable - continuing education, mentors, self-educated, parent educated? I am currently working on my masters and researching the obvious gap between high school teachers and community service providers that inevitably results in frustration and delayed services for students.

Have you and your spouses found any good / unique ways to have a date night recently? We are so tired of doing the same thing all day every day.... but aside from ordering takeout we don’t know what to do. 7pm kid goes to bed and by 9pm we are ready for bed. We used to do painting and puzzles and fancy drinks but I’m pregnant and the others feel like longer commitments than we want right now....

My daughters step-mom sent me a message two months ago, just saw it tonight. They want to pay off the future obligation owed for child support, she turns 18 in two years. Total amount is $23k. My daughter has never met him. The wife said they think “it would be in the best interest of both parties.” The attorney generals office told them they don’t accept a lump sum payment, so not sure what I can do to facilitate this. Opinions please? It sounds suspicious.

I’m asking out of genuine curiosity - why do law firms promote people who have 0 leadership and management skills to partner? I know people who have been promoted to partner who have for a fact been given poor reviews bc they are egregious managers — some are not even respected by juniors because they also don’t have much substantive knowledge. Is it just politics?

We're a one income family (makes more sense financially now with the exorbitant daycare costs). How much should one be saving towards retirement? My finanancial advisor is basically saying I meed to max out contributions to 401k and Roth but how does one do that on ONE income with young kids? Mortgage is less than $1k/ mo with eacrow and cars are paid for. We don't spend much other than for necessities and 1-2 trips/yr. I'm getting really discouraged.

Hi moms - Can anyone share what you do with 2 - 3 YO on weekends? We are usually catching up on house chores and I feel my kid runs aimlessly around the house most of the day. We try to take a hike, go for the library or playground but with pandemic we have limited to only these 2 activities. Tell me whether you would be annoyed by this. Husband found an extra vaccine dose at a grocery store 30 min away by calling around while I was telling our 3 yo a story before bed, then barged in and announced that he was going to go get the vaccine and dashed off! Without asking me if I wanted it? Granted the pharmacist told him he had to hustle and he knows I can’t drive on the highway solo. But still! I feel like a 1 min discussion about who gets it was warranted! Thoughts?? Lol
