Ok let's be realistic here and consider the type of people posting on this thread. The first five people on this post were trolls. Not to mention a few other trolls along the way. The rest of the posts come primarily from those who are in the top tier for their age group and want to boast about their salary. Those who are in the bottom end of the scale are too embarrassed/ashamed to share their pity salaries which results in skewed data. Take all this with a grain of salt

M, col is great in Chicago, and while I'm way behind some for my age, I haven't even been through 3 years yet and started at 55k. Pleased overall and I like the people and freedom to not only do index funds for investing purposes - those two factors make all the difference, because I didn't start out poor to begin with. I value freedom and not dreading those I have to spend my days with.
